CISM recognises outstanding contributions to music culture through its distinguished system of honours, awarded to individuals and organisations who have served the international wind and brass music community.
The CISM Honour System
Medal of Merit
Awarded for meritorious service as an active musician. Recognises long-standing dedication and exceptional contribution to music performance at the local and national level.
Cross of Merit
Bestowed for distinguished service at the international level. Recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing wind and brass music across borders.
Cross of Honour
The highest distinction for distinguished and sustained service at the international level. Reserved for those whose impact on the CISM mission has been truly exceptional.
Sponsor's Medal
Recognises ideal and material merits in support of the music community. Awarded to individuals and organisations whose generous patronage has enabled cultural advancement.
Certificate of Recognition
Awarded to music associations that have existed for more than 10 years, honouring their enduring commitment to preserving and promoting music culture in their communities.
Order of Honour Rules
Member associations may submit award requests to the CISM Presidium on behalf of deserving candidates.
All award documents are officially signed by the CISM President and Secretary General.
Awards and distinctions are presented at public events and ceremonies to ensure proper recognition.
The applicant association bears all costs related to the award, including production and delivery.
